My Why and
My Work
I know what you're thinking. "Umm.. Lindsey, that photo is blurry and out of focus! Why would you post it for the world to see?!" Yes, it breaks the rules of photography, but it's a very real and fleeting moment, captured forever. I couldn't trash this image with a good conscience. I delivered this image to this mama as a bonus. I know ten years from now, when she looks at it the sound of her little girl's giggle will replay in her mind and memories from her early motherhood days will come flooding back to her. I couldn't cheat her out of those memories. I know the rules of photography. This is why I break them and I don't feel guilty about it.
I used to consume myself with the technicalities of photography--finding the perfect composition, studying settings, wrapping the light just right. The world is full of photographers that get it all right, all of the time. They think their shots through, from start to finish, with impeccable precision. The result is beautiful! I'm just different. I don't live my life with steadfast strategy, so naturally I don't shoot that way. I shoot from my heart and somehow still manage to yield amazing results.
My sessions are laid back, fun, usually quick, and most importantly meaningful. I will always get the portrait grandma wants, with everyone posed and smiling at the camera. But my favorite images are filled with movement and your family's unique connection with each other. Those images tell the story of who you are and where you are in this season of your life. Those are the images you will want to cherish forever.
